I pulled out my Brasswind catalog and did a little arithmetic. For example, the 4-valve Besson 956GS Sovereign baritone is shown at $3099 and the 967GS Sovereign euphonium is shown at $3395 ($296 difference or about 9.5% more than the baritone). I haven't checked the pricing situation for Yamaha, but I would expect the same pattern to hold. The biggest problem is finding instruments with which to do an apples-to-apples comparison.

Well, small-bore baritones are smaller and lighter, requiring less labor and materials. Shipping costs are also somewhat lower. But the price differential doesn't appear to be really huge.
