I would be very wary with scanning commercial music, in most cases, this is a copyright infringement. Only works that are in the public domain are able to scanned/photocopied or put into an electronic format eg. MIDI file format. Works come into the public domain usually after the composed has been dead for 75 years. There are some exceptions to this (some works by Bartok for instance).

I have been caught in the past playing an arranged work by a publishing company. They weren't happy, but, things would have been much sweeter if I would have contacted the publishers and told them what my intentions were.

I'm not sure what your intentions are with this software so what I said mightn't apply. Be cautious though!!
