I want to ask the Euphonium honkers out there on thier pick for a mid-priced compensating Euphonium. Let me explain the situation. There are two junior high schools where I teach that want compensating euphoniums for thier young'uns in their top bands and I'm looking for an alternative to the Yamaha 642 (or whatever number they are putting on that thing now). Now Im not saying that I don't like Yamaha Euphs but I want to present some supportive evidence that there ARE other brands out there and the pros AND cons or each. I would want opinions on compensating instruments under $3500 and especially opinions on the new Meinl Weston and Miraphone Euphs in comparison to the Yamaha. In short, Im trying to be a responcible private teacher and not let these directors make a purchase without having the complete scoop on what they are doing.
