I love puns. As long as we are going down this path.. what about our embouchure. It seems to me that that should the primary source of resistance to air flow. As far as how a horn plays.. my suspicion is that another major factor along with the over all taper of the instrument could be how a horn is wrapped. Trombone players seem to be extremely aware of this so I would imagine there is atleast something to it. Ultimately, I suspect that this quesiton has too many facets to be given a definitive answer. I firmly believe in listening to my horn and letting it *teach* me how it wants to be played. The thought of flow rate never even crosses my mind. Off to bed.
