I am a subscriber to the TUBA journal, and enjoy the fact that there is a venue for Tubists in publication. However, as an amateur, I would love to see more articles pertaining to tips for improved playing, studies, and forming ensembles, quintets, etc... rather than the bulk of the journal consisting of historical instruments, ITEA, and other articles not directly related to the art of tuba-ing as we know it today. As an HB-21 owner, who is part of a couple of small ensembles, and a college graduate with a minor in performance, I feel like the journal is not geared towards people like myself, though I would be willing to bet the majority of subscribers are just like me; non-professional. Comments?
