Soldering is easy. Soldering WELL takes PRACTICE! If I may suggest, get some junk parts and practice. Speaking as a former trombone maker at S. E. Shires, I learned that most of the trick to solder pieces well is proper preparation of the parts to be soldered. Your pieces have to be clean and fit WELL. After that, the only trick is to apply just the right amount of heat, flux and solder in just the right places at just the right time! But seriously, you CAN teach yourself and all it takes is some careful observation and practice. I hope this encourages you to try your hand at this after putting in some bench time beforehand...... good luck!
