Besides the works of Mahler, Bruckner, R. Strauss and the like, a couple of my favorites are:
Monteverdi--Vesper of the Blessed Virgin
Janacek--Capriccio for piano, left hand, flute & brass (this was on disc 2 of set I bought for Taras Bulba)
Holst--The Planets (I love listening the enigmatic and emotional Venus and Neptune)
And the requisite Gabrieli/Chicago/Phily/Cleveland cd/lp. I will stop here, though I (like most of us I suspect) could go on and on.
