Hello everybody interested,
I bought a new Melton horn 200 (European trade name of Meinl-Weston), a huge Kaisertuba, some 5 years ago.
I was told at the purchasing by Martin Matthies:
1) Not to open the valves. Otherwise the warranty is not valid.
2) Not to use any valve oil inside, only oil the linkage and the small shafts at the valve ends.
I have followed the advices all the time and the valves still work great.
I'm always careful about teeth cleaning and never eat or drink during playing, only still water.
I can't see any need to use oil inside the valves.
My best regards,
Lars
