I disagree absolutely that emotion is the main requirement of music. Sometimes I am emotional about music, sometimes analytical. And both those states frequently apply to the same piece of music at different times. But I love it either way. By the way, love is also not an emotion, it is a decision with emotional connotations.
If you think Bach is dull because he lacks emotion, maybe you are a slave to emotion and therefore unable to see and appreciate the elegant and powerful structure of the music.
