I was driving home last night returning from a lead trombone gig (i.e. fun chop gymnastics), and was thinking about the increasing quality of BBb tubas and their possible returning pouplarity. I myself am a CC now as trying to re-learn BBb is just to much trouble. However, if the smattering of BBb's existed now back when I switched I might still be playing a BBb. This has been prompted with recent experiences on some incredibly good BBb's like the new King, a good MW18 (great little horn with a killer low register), and especially a 5V MW25 (sounded like an alex, but a little more intonation freindly) and some others. So my questions are: 1) how many of you CC players feel the same, 2) what is your current favorite for a NEW BBb (for everybody), and 3) what improvements would you like to see on the current crop of new horns to make them better (whether it be all BBbs/ or brand specific).
