I also have a St Pete from The Tuba with the German valves. I find it to play very well in tune with a good dark German sound. I use a use Hirsbrunner hard case and have only a couple of small dents in the past year and a half. I suppose if they would make a tuba with cast iron we could have one that could be used for a battering ram and wouldn't dent, but I try to avoid using it as a weapon. Some people knock the workmanship and finish, but I have had little problem. I did have a bit of valve problem, but my repairman has taken care of that. Is this the greatest tuba ever? Certainly not, but for $2700 including customs and shipping from der Fatherland, I think it's a great value/
