I think you have to look at the type of hall that you play in to get a good answer to this question, too. I usually play Ewald on my C, but I've played in some halls that are so large and boomy (is that a word) that the only way to make a performance that would sound like I wanted it to was on the F. I've seen people use 2165's in quintets and I've seen people use 621 Yamahas. In some rooms they sound great....in others....not as great. No tuba is the wrong tuba for any playing situation so long as it produces the sound that you are after. Rememer, there is no perfect horn....I sell 'em.....I've seen lots and lots....pick the horn that is right for the given situation. If you can't have a big and little tuba, then make the choice that is closest to what is in your head based on the hall you perform in most.
