These old tubas were in high pitch A=452ish. Then the usual method was to add extra tubing to the tuning slide to bring it down to A=440. This was all before the large mouthpiece became popular on the UK.(mid sixties Bach 24AW arrived). A large Mouthpiece will make the tuba flatter so, if your EEb has a long tuning slide, it needs to be shortened. If only we had discovered America (mouthpieces that is) earlier!!!! hope this helps
