Correct me if I am wrong.

If you put a sine wave into an amplifier and increase the amptitude, looking at it on an oscilliscope, it will remain curved at the top and bottom until the point where the volume is to the amplifier's max. At that point the top curves will square out causing distortion. This is clipping.

Many will buy low powered amplifiers and crank them up beyond their capability and end up blowing speakers. I use to dread the days after summer holidays when a ton of blown speakers would come in the store beacause they brought them outside and blew them up. Another reason I got into custom work!

BTW, what would be a 3/4 speaker? 4/4? 5/4? 6/4? I remember the old days when everyone thought the bigger the speaker the better. There's a used shop in Chicago full of them! Wonder when tuba players will get into small horns and all the used shops will be full of Yorkbrunners, Floydophones and Yamayorks?
