I use old like-new performance high-end (old '70's-'80's high wattage "audiophile" quality) TRANSISTOR amplifiers. They just seem to sound better.
Where to I find them? When one "craps out" after 6-7 years, I go back to the thrift stores and pick up another one for $20-$40.
I've used the same speaker cabinets since I bought them new from Altec in the '70's and have replaced the 12" woofers twice, each time I bought "aftermarket" (Purviance, etc.) speakers that were better than the previous set was originally.
