Heya -- Leland Jordon, owner of a VMI 3302...
Bought it from WW&BW in Indiana back in the spring of 1998.
Like? Pretty much everything -- how it responds, good tuning, good sound, good looks (I know, looks don't make the sound, but it sure is purty!).
Dislike? I could go for a broader sound, but then again, it would be on the heavy side for a quintet if it sounded that way.
Favorite feature? The way it sounds, of course. I sound like a better version of me.
Is it the best tuba I've ever bought? I have to define "best" -- it serves more roles (or the same roles more effectively) than the other two tubas I have, but those other horns definitely have their place with me.
Personal anecdote? The first time I performed with it was in a community band in Paris, Ontario, not even three weeks after I received it. Never saw any of the music before either, but the theme from "Titanic" doesn't break one's fingers. Sightreading a concert on a new instrument does keep you on your toes. :-)
