You know I have NEVER understood why people beef so much about so-called "alternate" fingerings for notes like the bottom-of-the-staff g on bigger tubas. For that matter, many horns seem to be regarded as "good" or "a bowser" based on one or two notes...I am thinking of 6/4 CC's and F tubas here. I am SURE that part of this consensus is because those notes somehow fall in the money range of the particular instrument, yet every pro I have heard seems to produce pleasant enough sound EVEN on these problem notes.
So.....talk to me ???
