I did the mock audition that year too. I had a Miraphone 186 (with a 188 bell on it, came that way from Brasswind) that my college owned and the valves were very loud. All Floyd Cooley wrote on my sheet was "Fix Your Valves, They Sound Like a Maytag Washer!" in giant letters that covered the entire page. Yeah, I guess we all did suck!
