There was someone posting weeks ago saying that Chris Hall would go (and win) the BSO audition. I don't think that it's a clear choice as to which is the better job. Last I heard, Chester makes the most money of any orchestral tuba player (this is if you take into account all of the Pops TV and recording money as well as extra Pops concerts that pay up and beyond the salary). The BSO's new principal oboist is leaving the met for the BSO, so it's not unheard of that someone would do this.
