I play bass trombone most of the time, and use Schilke 58 and 59 mouthpieces. I just received a new Cerveny four rotary valve (not the oval model) euphonium in C and extra slide to B flat. An 11CL m/p was packed with the horn, but the tone was too light and bright for my tastes. I now use a shaved Schilke 57 on the horn, and it works fine. The tone is full and dark, and some intonation problems are solved. However, I don't recommend this approach to anyone who plays euph exclusively.
