yep, I built in some resistance in that gooseneck. I often find myself playing "acoustically" in jazz bands with (unfortunately) a mic on the clarinet with the trumpet AND trombone bleeding through. Sometimes, the g-----m banjo even amplifies himself. The resistance also helps the false tones "behave" better, too.

The mouthpiece pictured with the instrument is a C4 variant, and not really my C4 variant of choice (which "just happened to" turn out "right" when I had Schilke make it in '76). On large tubas, I use a Marcinkiewicz Helleburg #1 (stock).

The bell didn't exactly line up bore-wise with the large end of the first branch. I had to cut off several inches from the small end of the bell. Of course, the custom bell collars are what took so much time to get just right, and also to make fit "like a slide" rather than like a typical (loose) sousa bell.
