Speaking of the 24AW mouthpiece, that was the size packed with two of the tubas I have purchased in recent years, Cerveny 601-5MR CC 5R, and a MW 2145 CC. My Mirafone 186 CC came with a Rose "solo" model mouthpiece. In all cases, I switched to my trusty PT-50 which gave far better results (for me) than the 24AW's. You are correct that some pro's use a 24AW type m/p.
