Surely the C arpeggios are easier on a CC than BBb. Using no fingers has to be easier on the fingers than having to use them. Listen to Jake's "warm up". Sounds awfully familiar! Jake felt the CC was the first instrument of choice for most orchestra parts, but he also had BBb, Eb, F in various permutations and a wide variety of mp to choose from. As he said use the equipment to suit the job (which means considering a lot of factors. And.......... he even agreed that the smaller CC of the type Harvey used were the appropriate choice for the work Harvey was doing, and he felt that when Roger Bobo was using a Mirafone 184 it was the right thing to use, ie a chamber instrument for chamber music. So win a lottery and keep a good stable of a dozen or so tubas on hand. BUT, have a mainstay where you can do the most good performing and use the extras to supplement it.
Oh yes, don't forget to practice like mad and you might find that you can cover 99.9% of everything very well if you have the talent and do the hard work. This might answer some of the Eb vs F questions as well. The guts of the range of answers to all these equipment questions is get a good horn, a good mp, a good teacher, and play all the good music you can with all the good players you can.
One other valuable piece of gear is a good tape recorder to put into your sound system so you can study your performance and compare it with all those better players who's work is available for study in recorded formats.
