I wonder about the value of "over-sized" (attempting to imitate CC/BBb) F tubas myself, but suggesting that "bass" or F tubas as a complete group of instruments have no place would be sort of like asking:

"Hey, since trombone music is written in the BASS clef, why do they make trombones that aren't referred to as BASS trombones...Why all these 'pea shooter' trombones like King 2B's etc.?" ...Obviously, very small trombones have their VERY prominent place in the world of trombone playing.

Good F tubas offer cleanliness of execution and clarity of sound still with a round, bass voice.

If F tubas were "the norm", perhaps people would be asking questions such as "Why do some of these guys think they need to use those ridiculously oversized CC and even BBb 'appliances' ?" ...which would be just as skewed a view.
