I'm with you on that one, Leland. Great retort. And, probably more accurate than some CC players will feel comfortable with. (I am a CC player by the way, but would proudly play a good-quality BB flat tuba in most any setting.)

As for the comments posted by some others about certain scales or keys being better on such-and-such pitched tubas, that is B.S. Any decent player, regardless of what key his tuba is in, should be able to play all scales and music in any key signature. I can't imagine some top pro-player thinking, "Gee. This piece is in A major. I'd better change to a different-pitched tuba." (Pro's----please correct me if I'm wrong. I will then eat humble pie.)
