I got mine from Dave Fedderly, at Baltimore Brass. Mine is silver plated and cost was about $2K and Dave will work with you on price to give you the lowest possible cost. They are distributed by DEG. Being small, they ship via UPS for about $20. I listen to my students play the horn every week and the sound is dependant on the student playing it. When I play the horn, it plays like my other BBb tubas play and sounds very nice. The bottom end really does rock; one of my students can make the pictures on the wall rattle with low F down to BBBb. I don't think I would try to play "The Planets" with the local symphony but I would not hesitate to play many jobs with it, including brass band and quintet jobs. I really do like the horn.
