Don't know too much about the NYC scene now, but here goes.

Julliard with Warren Deck is obvious. Awesome teacher, top flight school. Negatives.... too damn expensive, highly competitive.

Tony Hanks (Manhattan School) from what I here, is teaching all over the shop these days which for me at least would be a negative point (busy, overworked teachers tend to loose track and not too give their students the personal attention they may deserve. This is speaking from personal experience when I was overworked and had 40 students. Toby may be a different kettle of fish)

Chris Hall teaches at Purchase College, SUNY. Could be worth a shot. Cheap for New York too. Don't know too much about this one but I'd love to know what it's like there (my students in mind). Any know??

I've been out of the loop on this for a little too long to give you any solid advice. But I'm sure there are some posters here that can help more.
