I think middle schools should retreat to purchasing 3 valve instruments...less to tear up, lighter weight, and easier on the overburdened taxpayers...and if someone is committed enough to buy their OWN tuba they should be warned off of three valve instruments in favor of four (as I understand Tom to be saying).
