Interestingly, the tuba openings listed in the April edition are all NEW positions.
Apparently the Air Force Band in DC has reshuffled or increased their personnel, because there are numerous new Ceremonial Brass positions including two tubas jobs.
Even more interesting is the situation in Birmingham, where the Alabama Symphony has made their tuba chair, until now a per-service position, into a core position.
If you're not quite ready to join the union but want to check out the International Musician (union paper), do what I did in college... find it among the periodicals in your music library. Or, if you want more information about these openings, go directly to the websites for these groups.
