The information, that I have on Sterling brasses in general says, that they are more refined than Bessons. But that they have the same issues of sloppy production, that mare British brasses as a whole.

One superb Sterling Eb cornet had to be returned for an absolutely non-musical matter. After a very short period of use the threadings could no longer hold the top valve caps down.

If the Sterling Eb tuba, that you have found, meets decent technical standards. And if it matches you musical needs. Then buy it!

If I liked that instrument I would pay something like £1200 or £1500 for it, given its age. But then I am a person sitting hard on my purse.
