Check out The Brasshoppers at www.brasshoppers.com. Also, of course, the New Orleans type stuff like the Dirty Dozen and the Rebirth Brass Bands. Also, anything by Bob Stewart. Taj Mahal did some nice stuff with tuba.
Also, a great band is the Jon Bennett band in London - cd's available, probably from a website somewhere. This band is fantastic and is similar in ethos to the Gil Evans band of the 70's and 80's.
Also, any recordings by Loose Tubes, a large big bandish sort of group from the late 80's/early 90's.
