You should look into the area of improvised music as well. Howard Johnson et al use this technique from time to time in a jazz context, but improvisation and indeterminacy have also become very important in modern classical music. Try to find some information about Vinko Globukar; he is a trombonist, but I believe he has written at least one piece for tuba. He has an extraordinarily large bag of tricks (including multiphonics), and is one of the few avant-garde improvisers I have heard who really has it down. He is a world-class musician.
