You have pointed it out before, and I have pointed out the physical similarity of the 621 to a Boosey cavalry tuba of about 100 years ago. I agree that my 621 F tuba is quite British in its conception and result, except that it feels more open than any Besson I've every played. But I'm not sure the British result in a bass tuba is that different from the American approach in a contrabass tuba, except maybe for the effects of the compensation tubing. Every adjective I've heard about the traditional Besson sound is closely related to "sweet." That is pretty close to my own perception of fat American contrabasses. The Yamaha isn't so sweet-sounding, at least not when I play it, heh, heh.
