I think you should ask Meinl Weston for a new slide. When I bought my MW45 in 1982, the first valve tubing was too short. I got a longer one quickly and without cost for me, except for the stamp on the letter I wrote (this was pre email era). Since what you want is something to suite your taste, you might have to pay some, but probably not more than you'd have to pay to have it fixed in a repair shop. It's worth a try.
