Bear with me as I try to explain this without possessing all the requisite vocabulary. You know the little flange on a rotary valve that hits the bumpers as it rotates? It is quite bent on the fifth valve of my Yamaha 621, and I suspect it's getting worse. I'm worried that the thing might just break off one these days (which would put a lid on my recital in 3 weeks). The pistons on this horn provide a lot of resistance and I think I might really be hammering the fifth as a reflex. Anyone got any ideas? (I'll eventually need a new mechanism, but I didn't want to mess with it until the school year is over)
