I think your small piston CC with a .750 bore is uncommon. The Rusk cut, Dillon cut, Conn and Getzen of the same size all have a .689 (or thereabout) bore.
Two notable players who HAVE used the G-50 as their 4/4 horn (with a Yorkbrunner 6/4) in major orchestras recently are Chester Schmitz and David Fedderly.
It sounds as if you played a less than stellar G-50.... or perhaps it just doesn't work for you. We're all different.
