Alright, before I write this, I'am aware that this serves to perpetuate a stereotype. I need to come up with a sousaphone dance for a song during marching band next year, and I need some suggestions, because I am the limber one in our section, and my section mate is rather inflexible. This leads to problems, because what I can do is not what he is capable of doing. Now that that's over, I need to find a practice excercise to increase my volume capabilities. This is due to the fact that I am the only tuba player in the band next year during concert band season. I've been told that using a practice mute anytime you practice and taking it out when playing in a band environment leads to monstrous volume increases, but since I don't have my sound completely where I want it yet, I'd like to play without a mute for the time being. Lastly, I believe that I will be taking lessons at Ohio University this summer, so all is well in the tuba world.
Thanks for your suggestions.
