I have tried 3 different St. Petes and all of them played like blowing into a garden hose. Bad sound, horrible response, and barely useable intonation. Add to that the documented record of poor quality leading to major breakdowns, even on adult owned and pampered instruments, and yes, even Jupiters are better than St. Petes.
The older (more than 10 yrs old) Jupiters and the models other than the 582s also can have problems, but the 582s made today are very viable instruments, and likely to be played long after the St. Petes have all fallen apart.
