We have been reheasing it for an upcoming concert in Connecticut. It's actually called "The Cowboys and the Girl". The piece set me to wondering how french horns came to be associated with cowboy music. A standard ingredient in every cowboy movie is a glorious, soaring french horn theme.
I enjoy it as much as anyone, but it makes about as much sense as the fact that every film about ancient Rome features actors with british accents. (Seems to me that Italian accents would make more sense, or perhaps Brooklyn.)
