The problem with any of these "instant silver" products is that they deposit a layer that is only about a molecule thick--when the base metal is covered by a layer of silver, the action stops. So the process is only cosmetic and must be periodically renewed.

"Instant" electroplating has been around for decades and decades. I hope you didn't pay too much for it--here's an outfit that doesn't charge you for the water. They've been making this stuff for as long as I've been alive:
