Your post about an Eb woodwind may hint at a problem of understanding. An Eb tuba is not a transposing instrument in the same way an Eb woodwind is. All tuba music (except British Brass Band) is written in concert pitch. That is: see a C, finger a C, buzz a C, hear a C. For transposed music, the sounded pitch is different from the written note, so playing a Eb woodwind part on tuba without re-transposing would destroy the harmony.

Of course, if you are new to learning the tuba, as I infer from your post, just get a method book, learn how to play tuba from it, and play music written for tuba.

simple. Right?
Have fun
