But if you catch a piece of food (yes, I know) in the rotor and it jams, you may have some difficulty getting back in action. If you cant dislodge the offending schmutz by wiggling the stop arm, then it's a half-hour repair that requires tools. The pistons are more field-servicable.

And you are right about cheap rotors. Until I learned how to disassemble them myself, I used to tie the linkages of the third and fourth rotors of my Sanders with a rubber band. Without it, the fourth valve would stick solid. Go figure. But the Sanders had hollow rotors--those were nice.
