The older 186's came with a C4. This mouthpiece is NOW know as the TU23. These German-style mouthpieces tend to be wide and flat, compared to the funnel shape of the American style mouthpieses (Hellebergs & Bach's). This will DEFINITELY brighten the sound. One problem is that the rim shape is a LOT different and will take some getting used to. Further, it will be hard to go back to the Helleberg style rim afterwards.
