some of my reasons:
a.) music is and has been a very important part of my life
b.) sometimes for the musical experience
c.) sometmes for fun
d.) sometimes for the community
e.) sometimes for my pleasure
f.) sometimes to get together with friends
g.) sometimes for the money
h.) sometimes all the above (or at least multiples)
Also, I enjoy playing the string bass as much as I enjoy playing the tuba (and I get to play compositions that were written before the tuba was in use in the orchestra).
tuba goes well with beer, pizza, hamburgers, etc...
