When you use the word "fired" as a description of your job status, it's a good bet you won't be asked for an interview when you submit your resume. The administration certainly can't stop him from applying, but it's pretty far-fetched to think that the committee would select Ted as a finalist after what's happened. And don't worry - nobody understands University procedures/politics because they are as fluid as the Pacific!
