I recently visited the new Woodwind and Brasswind store in Manhattan (on W. 23rd street near the F train). While it's certainly not Dillon Music, it's a heck of a lot better than Sam Ash. Since the store also stocks woodwinds and stringed instruments, it should be a nice alternative for the school market. In one corner of the store, several tubas on display and the practice rooms are quite nice. Just in case anyone was wondering...
