The bass trombone that you speak of is Murray Crewe. I had the chance to meet him and not only hear him perform (which was PHENOMENAL), but also sit in on a lecture he gave on auditioning. He's an absolutely fantastic guy and a pretty good bass bone player too!!! I'm planning on going to Pittsburgh to get a lesson with this guy in the near future and I would recommend any other low brass player to do the same!
