stuffy Meinl Weston?

I have a Model 32 Meinl Weston tuba. Now, I know that the MW's are known for a stuffy lower range and you have to blow a warm, relaxed air flow for low notes. But my friend owns a 2155, and when he tried mine, he said that he liked the dark sound but my tuba was very stuffy, especially on the lower range. If I can explain it more, the low notes are as stuffy as playing low notes on a 1970's Rudy Meinl F tuba. That's pretty bad.

Are the 32's more stuffy than other Meinl Westons? Or can it be my 32 is the stuffiest out of all 32's? Because it's a big pain in the butt playing Hartley's unaccomp. Suite with it. It was so much easier with my PT-3 where I can nail the notes and the big jumps clearly. Maybe the 32 just isn't a good solo instrument.
