But is a 1908 Holton Eb (though its big for an Eb) worth anything with tight valves? Its hard to play as it is, every note has to be lipped, and most can be moved more than a half step either way... Another sign of valve wear is that they pump spit out in large quantities. Or is it a better decoration for a music room than a horn to be played? While its not beat, its not perfect, though the bell is. Silver plated, can take a shine with enough elbow grease and scotch silver polish. The last time I took it to a show pit they asked me to bring my double bass because I played it in tune better.
