When ever I don't feel like practicing, I listen to great music. The Music is what it's all about. I'll get half way through listening to the first movement of Mahler 5, and have to catch myself from tripping to get to my horn. Being a tuba player is about two things. Love of the tuba, and a love of great music. You can't play great music unless you practice. But great music, atleast in my case, is the motivation to do so. Nothing worth getting, comes with out sacrifice, and hard work. Playing the tuba when I want to play, isn't work. Playing the tuba, when I'm tired, frustrated, annoyed at the tiny practice rooms, etc. Is work. Ok I'm done with the sermon.
